verall- A blustering titan of a red wine, brute and tremendous, bulldozing and bullying as it throws its weight around on the palette. Its colossal breadth and savage structure take dominion over and even dwarf other Cabernets from the North Bay. Total expression and mouthfeel are Herculean, direct, round and boorish. Powerful skin tannins and beastly muscle dictate a potential cellar ageablity rather than the simple fruit components expression of my wines this massive. The acids are mild and subjugated somewhat though still mouthwatering and otherwise made up for in tannin structure. This Vineyard has a way of making the visitor feel small among the various and numerous, steep hillsides much the way this wine makes one’s palette feel undersized. The famous Monte Rosso Vineyard borders one side of the vineyard, the well regarded Rancho Salin Vineyard borders both while Richard Arrowwoods new Estate and Winery Amapola Creek creates the other border. The wine is grown in an excellent class of company. The wine is large but trim and cut. This vineyard shows it’s special talent of combining both the terroir (sense of place) flavors of Mountainside fruit with the savage power of the valley floor. A full bodied wine with crowd pleasing appeal, layered fruit preserves and unique powdered baking spices. Tannins, acid and alcohol are all in balance while having a large, soft mouthfeel.
