verall- an honestly made wine with nice balanced fruit, dark flavors, proper oak, proper acid. A young wine with a few green seed tannins holding it back a little. A little age may remedy that somewhat. Flavors of Grilled black plums, black olive, bacon, cassis, ink, lavender, dried violets, game and smoke. Age two to five years. Decant for 30 minutes and serve at 70 to 75°F.
Why 87pts? Some terroir and interesting spice notes. Nice dried black fruit center. Varietally correct in a traditional sense, which is often unusual for most modern Syrah. Some character, humility and restraint.
